Organiser's Comments

Camperdown Park, Dundee, was the venue on Thursday 30th May. There can be few, if any, more imposing locations for the start and finish of an orienteering event than the portico of Camperdown House. It was the first time one of the new Dundee Country Parks maps had been used and a fine sunny evening saw the park looking its best and meant conditions for orienteering were ideal.

25 orienteers ran round the short and/or the long courses, with times ranging from 13 mins to 80 mins. Simon Ogston came in first on the short course in 13 mins with Abigail Williams the first junior in 23 mins. Brian Williams completed the long course in an impressive 20 mins, with newcomer Roger Hunter coming an excellent second in 25 mins.

Assistance at the event was provided by Laura Barbour, Emm Andrew, Chris MacDonald, Chris Thomson and Sandy Barclay, all sports coaching students from Dundee College.
