48 took part in TAY's local event on a beautifully sunny day, quite a contrast from TAY's 2010 event here when deep snow almost forced cancellation. There was a very healthy TAY entry, plus friends from INT, ESOC and CLYDE and some very welcome guests, including one from Sussex!
The wood was looking fantastic with the first of the spring flowers and the fresh green of the leaves coming out. This was the first event to be planned using a small new section of map which was added so as to take people down to the road. This allows for a circular course without having to cross the river, although of course in the present low water conditions it would have been fine to cross! Folks were apparently wondering how they would negotiate the railway as it was quite hard to see the underpass on the map, but it was very obvious once you got there. Sorry about control 171 which was too low in the re-entrant.
Congratulations to Alastair Dunlop of CLYDE, who completed his 50th orienteering competition in less than one year at this event, thereby completing the Scottish Orienteering Association's 50 years, 50 events challenge!
Many thanks to all the helpers, especially Moira Laws and Laura Nicoll for handling registration and Davie Frame for helping bring in the controls.
Lost property: found after the event a navy, Nike running jacket. If it's yours, contact the organiser to arrange its return, e.g. at the JK this coming weekend. Email g.nicoll @ virgin.net
