Once again, club members rallied round to help make the day a success. Specal thanks are due to PGL for the use of their premises and woodland at Dalguise, to the Forestry Commission for use of the forest, and to local university outdoor activity lecturer David Laird who presented the East of Scotland Championship trophies and medals.
Special thanks too to planner Angela Dixon, (who also helped present the prizes) assistant controller Dave Prentice, and controller Ted Finch.
As the results show, the total turnout was 144 plus a dozen or so on the string course. Fifty seven entered after the on-line closing date, or on the day, including 26 seniors, 2 students, and 29 local children and family groups. One family turned up with nine entries using the day as a birthday party outing. They live in Dalguise.
With a number of schools now orienteering in the local schools championship series and going to other club events most of them were competing on the yellow course, while one took on orange. He took his time, worked it all out and returned just as talk of search parties was in the offing. Well done that young man.

Page last updated Friday 2nd November, 1730, to include advice on crossing streams, and mention of start time blocks - see Start Blocks information below.
In addition to the safety information below, this message comes from the planner today: "As I was putting out controls I noted the streams are very full. On the Orange course there are a couple of streams to cross, and is probably safest for children to just wade across the stream getting their feet wet rather than sliding on stepping stones. Both streams are in flat areas so walking across the stream will be easy."
These are advisory, but preference is given to competitors allocated a block as listed in the Fabian4 start list. There have been four basic groups - Early , Medium, Late and Any time. They have been grouped to try and get all Championship runners through the start by 12:15 at the very latest (Green). Those not involved in the championships can think of starting within their block time or later.
