Woodland areas mostly fairly runnable and any bracken will be down at this time of year. Some areas of brambles on St Magdalene Hill marked with thicker vegetation symbols

Open land on Kirkton and Mailer hills has spectacular views on a fine day but is quite exposed if weather poor.

On the day results will hopefully be available at

Directions / Parking

what3words: ///lazy.trade.chimp

Approach from the North, West or SW via M9 to Perth Broxden roundabout taking the Perth exit (Glasgow Road A93) down towards the city for about 3/4 mile passing a roundabout and 2 sets of traffic lights. Take the 4th main turning on the right (Needless Road) crossing one mini-rdbt at Murray Crescent to turn right at the next junction (Darnhall Drive). Follow this road continuing straight uphill at the 1st mini-roundabout where it becomes Craigie Knowes Road and follow this to the 4th mini-rdbt taking right fork up Glenlochay Rd. until it turns sharp left at the summit, becoming Glendevon Rd. The public car park, usually busy with dog walkers, will be signed just uphill from here to Registration/Start. Street parking can be found on Glendevon, Glenlochay and nearby streets but note usually cars park on one side of road only.

If arriving from North East through Perth city follow A93 Glasgow Rd uphill to turn left at Needless Rd then as above.

Traffic from South East via M90 should exit at jnct 10 and follow Perth centre A912 sub-exit down Edinburgh Road towards city turning left after ½ mile onto Gleneagles Rd. Continue along here for ½ mile until it branches uphill on Glendevon Rd. Park as above.

Families with very young children and very elderly competitors may find parking space by registration but all others should aim for street parking if possible.

Course Information

There are 2 courses

Long Score (70min) including Craigie, St Magdalene, Mailer and Kirkton Hills

Short Score (45min) including Craigie, St Magdalene and Mailer Hills. This course is also suitable for beginners who just wish to follow an easy circuit of St Magdalene Hill. Newcomers to the sport are very welcome. It is hoped that some on the day coaching can be provided.

Explanation of Score courses

You don't have to visit all the controls! There is usually a time limit, instead of a set course. Points are scored for visiting controls, and deducted for finishing over the time limit. You decide which controls to visit, and in which sequence. Sometimes controls have different points values. You will need to carry a watch or phone, so you know how long you have been out.

Safety and Risk

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.

Keep It Clean campaign - Forestry Commission Scotland

Our forests are at risk from tree pests and diseases. These can dramatically affect the health of our trees, upsetting the delicate ecosystem balance and devastating large areas of woodland.
Pests and diseases hitch a ride in mud and debris on shoes, paws and tyres, ending up in new forests. Here, they can spread rapidly in environments with no natural resilience.
