Compass Sport Cup Heat

The Compass Sport Cup Scottish heats will take place on Sunday 12 March at Tentsmuir, near Dundee - and we need you! Read the call for team members from Club Captain Alistair.

"Hello everyone

As we’re into the new year now, and many of us are starting to look at the orienteering calendar for the coming year, I thought it would a be a good chance to remind everyone of the Compasssport Cup competition date, and make sure that you all have this in your diaries. This is the main inter-club competition for orienteering and is always a great day out, with a special team atmosphere.

The Scottish qualifying heat is on Sunday the 12th of March, in the forested dunes of Tentsmuir forest, in north east Fife. If you haven’t been there before, I can highly recommend it as one of Scotland’s best orienteering areas- lovely open runnable forest, with some great technical challenges and complex contour features in the dune areas.

The top 4 clubs from the Scottish heat of the trophy will qualify for the final, which is held in the autumn, in Devon. We were agonisingly close to qualifying last year, so with a little more luck we should stand a good chance this time round. I’ll be in touch nearer the time to gauge interest and confirm arrangements (and perhaps most importantly, to try and find volunteers for running up on the longer courses…), but for now could you all think about whether you would be interested in running for the club, and save the date.

All the best

Alistair"
