Success for club members at Highlander Mountain Marathon

Club members Davie Frame and Laura Nicoll not only took part in last weekend's Highlander Mountain Marathon but came home with well-earned prizes! Davie and his partner were 2nd on the C class whilst junior Laura, taking part in her first ever mountain marathon, and her partner (the youngest team in the event!), finished third female pair on the D course.

The event format comprises teams of two navigating their way around a two-day course in mountainous terrain, carrying all provisions and equipment necessary for an overnight camp. The exact location of the start is kept a secret from the competitors until a month before the event takes place. This year the event centre was Glen Cannich, with competitors bussed to the Mullardoch Dam to work their way to Glen Strathfarrar for the overnight camp. The next day they ran back over the hills to finish in Cannich. Full results here You will recognise a lot of other orienteers in the lists, with storming performances in the A class from some well known names! Mel, unable to compete this year, helped out at the event and got a top SI tutorial from Martin Stone!
