Great bit of re-use/recycle!

Old TAY T-bars donated to Lagganlia Outdoor Centre

Great bit of re-use/recycle – TAY has donated its old T-bars to Lagganlia Outdoor Centre to help them deliver orienteering. Lagganlia is a great base for orienteering with a wealth of quality areas on the doorstep. Pic shows Nick March, Centre Manager taking delivery.

  

Success for club members at Highlander Mountain Marathon

Club members Davie Frame and Laura Nicoll not only took part in last weekend's Highlander Mountain Marathon but came home with well-earned prizes! Davie and his partner were 2nd on the C class whilst junior Laura, taking part in her first ever mountain marathon, and her partner (the youngest team in the event!), finished third female pair on the D course.

Coaching Foundation Course

For experienced orienteers who want to dip their toes into the waters of coaching

Bookings open for Scottish Orienteering Coaching Foundation course 16 September near Perth.This one-day course is for experienced orienteers who are members a SOA club.

Balkello, near Dundee

TAY will run a local event at Balkello straight after the Jamie Stevenson Trophy has finished. We plan to make this a social event too so if the weather is good bring your mini BBQs. If the weather lets us down we can stick up the tents and have a picnic under canvas instead! More details to follow and keep your eye on the website.

  

Scottish Championships

Balmoral, 21 22 May

Members were in action in the individual and relay events at last weekend's Scottish Champs at Balmoral. Reports are coming in of suitably taxing courses for this major event but smiles all round! Well done to all who took part. Results here

Purple Thistle 2016

30 31 July Balmacara

An invitation from Tessa on behalf of the Scottish Elite Development Squad to come to the west coast for the Purple Thistle on the 30-31st July 2016. "True to the barebones concept, we’ve got some low fuss, top quality orienteering and hopefully a great atmosphere!"

SOL3 Glen Affric

Good luck to TAY members travelling north this weekend to compete in the third of the Scottish Orienteering League events at Glen Affric. Sadly this may be the last large scale event to be held in this stunning area due to planned felling. Current placings in the league table here

  

Lovely contours!

Coaching session focuses on contours

Sunday's coaching session at Dalguise (session #3 in a four-session block) was well-received. We focused on contours and included a novel tattie contour competition this week and finished with a "place and chase" exercise - which required very close attention to the map!
