New Area urban event close to but not in Perth city centre. Event Number 87763

This is the 3rd event in the Tayside Spring Series. Courses involve an intricate road and path network with a lot of parkland. Map contours could play a prominent but not overwhelming role in selecting the best route.

Pre event information

The event will be run through housing with some areas of park. This is a 20mph traffic calmed area.

Tulloch is in the west of Perth close to the by-pass.

Juniors are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult and run the short course. To keep it fair, adults who want to run with a junior and run a course themselves should run their own course first.

Directions / Parking

Limited parking at the Event Centre. W3W full.rests.horses

The car parking can be busy. Parking also available in surrounding streets

Getting there - Use the by-pass. Come into Perth via the road from Crieff. From north take Crieff exit from bypass then at the first traffic light turn left towards Perth. At the next major traffic lights carry straight ahead then take the next left into Tulloch Terr. From south and west take the Crieff exit and turn right (on A85) at the top of the slip road. Go straight at the next traffic lights at Tescos, straight across roundabout then at the next T junction turn right onto "Crieff Road" heading for city centre. But then take the first major turn on the left (Tulloch Terr) .the  Community Centre is on the left

Registration opens 10:15

Start 11am until 12 midday. Courses close 1pm

If you think you might take longer than 1hr please try and get there for an earlier start.

Course Information

Three courses  SHORT - About 3.5 Km with 45m climb

                         MEDIUM- About  6km with 60m climb

                         LONG - About 8km  with 100m climb

Explanation of colour courses

  • White are very easy with all controls on paths. They are mainly used by 6-10 year olds and family groups.
  • Yellow use simple linear features like paths, walls and streams. They are mainly used by under 12’s and family groups.
  • Orange progress to basic use of the compass and route choice. They are ideal for novice adults or experienced youngsters.
  • Light Green are ideal for improvers as the navigational difficulty begins to increase and uses simple contours and point features.
  • Green are used mostly by experienced under 18’s and adults wanting a short but challenging course with a very hard navigational difficulty.
  • Blue are a longer, more physically demanding course in comparison to the green. The distances are more varied between controls and the course attracts experienced orienteers.
  • Brown & Black are very physically demanding and have a very hard navigational difficulty. They are for experienced orienteers only.
  • Score means visiting as many controls as possible in any order in a specific time, like 45mins.

Dogs allowed?

Dogs can be walked or left tied/in car at the car park No dogs on the courses.

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
