Latest course dates and details from the Scottish Orienteering Association

Whether a club member or working within schools, scouts or other youth groups the Scottish Orienteering Assocation runs a programme of regular courses for those wanting to teach or coach orienteering.

Coaching Foundation courses

These one-day courses run by the Scottish Orienteering Association give experienced orienteers the skills and tools to coach beginners and returners of any age. The courses also make a useful update or refresher for anyone whose coaching might be a bit rusty or who just wants the opportunity to exchange ideas. The next courses will run on 13 February and 2 April – venues to be confirmed. UKCC Level 1 and Level 2 coaching course dates have also been scheduled. Latest dates and venues here

Teaching Orienteering courses

The Teaching Orienteering courses (Part 1 and Part 2) provide excellent training for anyone wishing to introduce the sport in schools, scouts or other youth groups. The courses are provided by the Scottish Orienteering Association and the schedule offers these courses throughout Scotland. Where possible, dates will fit in with known In-Service days. Both Teaching Orienteering courses last one day, and make excellent CPD. The Part 1 course assumes no prior knowledge and will enable participants to introduce orienteering in an enjoyable and rewarding way. Part 2 covers some more advanced techniques and is generally more relevant to secondary schools.  Attendance at Part 1 is a pre-requisite of Part 2. Latest information and dates here
