Scottish Urban O League Race 2 and SoSOL 3, Livingston

The club was well represented at the Interlopers' INTrepid Weekend - a weekend of urban and mixed orienteering in Livingston, including a Scottish Urban Orienteering league race on the Saturday, and a South of Scotland Orienteering League Race on Sunday. Maybe it was an issue of scheduling, or maybe it's just orienteering preference - but none of the members who ran on Sunday went to the urban race - and vice versa!

A small band of club members took on the challenge of Livingston's complex housing estates in Saturday's Scottish Urban O League race. The results were decided on two short sprint races, both in the Howden estate just north of Livvy's town centre, and the terrain was a mix of park, woodland and typical new town housing scheme. The windy weather and plenty of mud made things physically challenging, but Craig S (5th overall Young Junior Men), Alan B (12th overall Ultravet men) and David S (13th overall Vet Men) put in some steady results.

On Sunday, the focus moved to Dechmont and Deans, in the northern part of town, for the latest South of Scotland Orienteering League race. A mix of housing estate, forest and open land saw some very fast times. Of the 10 club members who ran, there were some particularly good results from Grahame N - 11th place on the Blue, Neil O'G - 15th and Laura N - 19th, both on Green, and Birgitte Nilsen - 7th on Light Green. A good warm-up for next weekend's race at Devilla Forest by Kincardine - the first Scottish Orienteering League Race of 2014!
